In 2008 we found this 13-year-old being trafficked on the streets of Phoenix

In 2008, something happened that forever changed the lives of our Co-Founders Brian Steele, and his wife Skye Steele. They were doing inner-city outreach to at-risk youth in Phoenix when they stumbled upon a 13-year-old girl being trafficked on 51st Avenue.

Their hearts ached as they saw the pain and trauma this young girl had endured. But they didn’t give up on her. They got her the emergency medical help she needed, and then they scrambled to prepare a room for her in the Where Hope Lives program. With open arms, they welcomed her into the program and into their hearts.

That moment marked the beginning of a mission that Brian, Skye and the entire Where Hope Live’s team are on every day – a mission to stop human trafficking. They have seen firsthand the horrors that young women are subjected to and they refuse to stay silent.

Every day, children are pulled into trafficking—many by people they should have been able to trust. Our Dream is that every child who needs long term healing from trafficking would have a safe place to heal.

The Big Dream

Every day in America, children are pulled into trafficking, often through manipulation online or betrayal by people they should have been able to trust.

Where Hope Lives is building the nation’s first recovery facility designed exclusively for child and young adult survivors—a place where trauma is treated at its root, safety is restored, and healing becomes possible.

This project is more than a building; it’s a lifeline. Every hallway, every bed, every treatment room will exist because a child needed someone to believe in their future.
